Language
Known for its simple orthography, Czech is a West Slavic language of the Czech–Slovak group. Czech and Slovak are considered mutually intelligible. The Prague Linguistic Circle was profoundly influential in linguistics and semiotics.
Economic Significance
Its status as an official language of the European and the official language of the Czech Republic make Czech a valuable language. Czech and Slovak Republics are the fastest growing business markets in the European Union. The Czech Republic earned the nickname the Detroit of Europe because of the prevalence of automotive manufacturing.
History
Modern Czech language was standardized in the 19th century and was referred to as Bohemian language before the 20th century. The language evolved from West Slavic in the first millenium and had separated from Polish through the 10th century.
